Incoming: Rummy resigns. Talk about a change. Time to go before the new Congress tells him to, to walk while he still has legs. (Unlike the thousands of American soldiers who no longer do, thanks to his lethal mismanagement.)

Nope. Bob Gates. Whoever he may be . . . Bush's pick for Sec'y of Defense.

Bush sounds totally stressed/pissed/defensive. Clearly reading, verbatim, what Karen Hughes/Tony Snow/his dog have written for him to say.

Bush now taking questions . . . uffdah!

When Bush starts dropping his 'g's (droppin', thinkin', wonderin', doin', thinkin', lyin', cheatin') it's a measure of how totally stressed he is.

Currently obfuscating about why the Rumsfeld decision was not made/announced prior to the election when it might have done Republicans some good. Rove has definitely lost his touch!!

Is it just me, or does he really seem to be coming completely unglued? "Somehow it seeped into their (American people's) conscious that I just wanted to stay the course (in Iraq)." Um, somehow, yes it did. Say something enough and that happens. Oh the dissembling and rambling on Iraq, aieeee.
And now getting positively pissy when asked about when he decided to give Rummy the boot. Crack up at hand.

The man is in meltdown. Tone, rapid-fire speaking, nutty little laugh. He is stumbling and blubbering and misfiring and leaving a trail of quotes that will bite his bike-pared butt Big Time.

I detect a certain tone of disbelief or whatever one's tone might be when you know you're in the presence of a crack-up (on the part of the journalists).

Can't imagine his people will let him ramble much longer. Where's the hook?

Ummm, isn't Gates another Bush I retread? I confess I don't know much about him. Google, here I come.

He got the hook. Did one of those abrupt endings, turned and walked off. Self hook. CNN says he'll do another press conference this afternoon with Rummy. That'll be choice. Looks like I'm going to blow this entire 70 degree day glued to this endgame.
Okay, Jeffrey Toobin is saying that although George Allen is, by law, entitled to a recount, he doubts there's any way Allen can make up the 7000 votes he needs. Yesss!
In Montana, he says Burns may not even qualify for the recount, and that he's just stalling the obvious by not conceding.

They are just stalling to blur the lines. Our Attention Deficit Disorder Nation will just remember it was really close and contentious which is one rationale for not being involved in politics.

Both houses! This is HUGE. Bush's legacy (whatever that was going to be) will be severly tarnished, no polish available now.

Yeah....he needed to go.

Now the pressure is on Democrats. Let's see if you can articulate.....something..!!!

Funny how most people like you who toss out cornball phrases like "have at it you retrograde hippies" rarely sign a real name. Well, that's life in the cyber world, I guess, and in your case, all swagger, no balls.

What's our plan? Well, for starters, it's a heckuva lot harder to pull a rusted car out of a swamp than jump start it while it's rolling down hill, and your boy-king president's parked it pretty dang deep in the swamp.

So he ran out of plans too, thus the arrival of the Geezer squad to bail him out. Or maybe he really does have a secret plan as Conrad Burns said, and he's not telling us. So maybe the Dems do too. I dunno.

Look you chucklehead, obviously the Dems will need to talk to the military chiefs in the field, to people in foreign affairs and intelligence, and consult with the fabulous Baker boy when his ISG releases its report, and then chart the best course out of said swamp.

The difference is, or one of hundreds, that the Dems will acknowledge the morass we're in and work to get us out in the most expedient and responsible way possible. Your all hat/no horse president's wishin' and hopin' just isn't cutting it, and our troops are taking a thumpin'.
