Likely you've seen it everywhere, but never let it be said you didn't see it at the Clothesline, too.

Al Gore has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his incredible work on climate change (aka global warming). Oh frabjous day! He shares the prize with a U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

The Nobel citation says that Al Gore "is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted."

What an incredible ride for the man who describes himself as someone "who used to be the next president of the United States."

And just so you know? The White House (that large D.C. building that apparently has the capacity for speech) says it is happy for Gore. We understand Junior is in the running for the Ann Coulter "My Pet Goat" award.

I need to process before I say more about this. A refreshing change, I know.

I like that, MLS. And it took about a nanosecond for the Republican smear machine to crank up about this. Here's a question I have. If the right wing simply settled down and presented their "case," what would that look like? Why are they afraid of confronting the "possibility" of global warming? What is the upside of blowing it off? What's to be gained by that? Surely it must go deeper than personal inconvenience. Surely no one is that shallow. So where is the counter argument. Not the blaming, misleading crap. Where is the gain in ignoring all of this? Help me understand.

You hit the nail smack on the head Barbara--they don't have a case, there isn't one. Ditto Iraq, Iran, Energy policy, healthcare, torture, spying, spending, S-CHIPand on...

The extreme right and it's backers are bankrupt of facts and simply have to sling slanderous crap at the faces of anyone bringing up facts. The majority of Americans seem to be catching on, slowly, and (some) of the media is waking up...

BUT....there's still that right wing filibuster block (good thing they didn't make it unconstituional when the Dems used it)!
